Data Sources for the Project
- The IMFs publication, IMF Survey, is an invaluable resource. You can obtain a free subscription by sending a note to the following address: IMF Survey, 700 19 St., NW, Washington, DC 20431. The publication is also posted on the IMFs website, www.imf.org. Data on aggregate, regional and countrywide financial sector and macroeconomic performance are presented in International Financial Statistics (IMF/World Bank). This volume is published annually and should be in the Reference section of the Miller-Nichols library.
- The IMFs Balance of Payments Statistics Yearbook presents detailed data on the balance of payments. The Financial Markets Center (www.fmcenter.org) publishes the Capital Flows Monitor, a very useful analysis of trends in capital flows and the balance of payments.
- The World Banks two-volume publication, Global Development Finance, provides comprehensive data on capital flows www.worldbank.org.
- Cross-national macroeconomic data can be found in Main Economic Indicators, published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development at www.oecd.org.
- The May issue of the US Commerce Departments Survey of Current Business summarizes US international transactions for the preceding year www.stat-usa.gov or www.doc.gov.
- Virtual International Business and Economic Sources is a wonderful on-line site. Look up the country you are interestedin and then connect to all sorts of useful sites from there (http://libweb.uncc.edu/ref-bus/vibehome.htm).
