Love Is...
When you love someone, all your saved-up wishes start coming out
Love is friendship set on fire
Love is
like quicksilver in the hand.
Leave the fingers open and it stays.
Clutch it, and it darts away.
The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved.
A wise
lover values not so much the gift of the lover as the love of the giver.
THE SIZE OF YOUR HEART
It isn't the size of your house as such
That matters so much at all.
It's the gentle hand and its loving touch, That make it great or small.
The friends who come and the hour they go, Who out of your house depart, Will
judge it not by the style you show, But rather by the size of your heart.
It isn't the size of your head so much,
It isn't the wealth you found.
That will make you happy -- it's how you touch The lives that are all around.
For making money is not hard --
To live life well is an art:
How people love you, how they regard,
Is all in the size of your heart.
Some
people never say the words "I love you"
It's not their style to be so bold.
Some people never say those words "I love you"
But, like a child, they're longing to be told...
Young
love is a flame; very pretty, often very hot and fierce, but still only light
and flickering. The love of the older and disciplined heart is as coals, deep
burning, unquenchable.
Juggling Five Balls
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name
them work, family, health, friends and spirit and you're keeping
all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball.
If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls family, health,
friends, and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be
irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never
be the same. You must understand that and strive for equilibrium in your life.
How?!
Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we
are different that each of us is special. Don't set your goals by what
other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as
you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless. Don't let your
life slip through your fingers by living in the past or the future. By living
your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.
Don't give in if you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until
the moment you stop trying. Don't be afraid to admit that you are less
than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us to each other. Don't
be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chance that we learn to be brave.
Don't shut love out of your life saying it is impossible to find. The
quickest way to receive love is to give: the fastest way to lose love is to hold
it too tightly: and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but
also where you are going. Don't forget, a person's greatest emotional need
is to feel appreciated.
Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always
carry easily. Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be
retrieved.
Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.
Yesterday is History. Tomorrow is a Mystery. And Today is a Gift: that's why
we call it The Present.
And my personal Favorite...........
A Text by Swami Vivekananda:
I once had a friend who grew to be very close to me.
Once when we were sitting
at the edge of a swimming pool, she filled the palm of her hand with some water
and held it before me, and said this:
"You see this water carefully contained on my hand? It symbolizes Love.
This was how I saw it: As long as you keep your hand caringly open and allow it
to remain there, it will always be there. However, if you attempt to close your
fingers round it and try to posses it, it will spill through the first cracks it
finds.
This is the greatest mistake that people make when they meet Love...they try to
posses it, they demand, they expect... and just like the water spilling out of
your hand, Love will retreat from you . For love is meant to be free, you cannot
change its nature. If there are people you love, allow them to be free beings.
Give and don't expect.
Advise, but don't order.
Ask, but never demand.
It might sound simple, but it is a
lesson that may take a lifetime to truly practice. It is the secret to true
love.
To truly practice it, you must sincerely feel no expectations from those who you
love, and yet an unconditional caring."
